Madonna's Mini-me is making a fashion buzz at a tender age of 11!
Sidenote: Can you remember what was your fashion statement at that age? Mine? I don't wanna remember! It's a nightmare! I swear it's giving me the creeps! That hiphop shorts (more like of a puruntong)! I don't know what it's even called for crying out loud! It's like a 3/4 baggy shorts and I matched it with a matching super big white shirt. Let's do the harlem baby! Hahah! Ewwwness at a maximum level! I remember how me and my brother share the same clothes. Expect the worst! We're not necessarily fashion forward sibs. I even thought I was a bisexual back then. And my hair...gawd that hair was terrible! Nuff of this old school reminiscing, it makes me wanna vomit. But if you want to share those old school fashion disaster...just drop us a comment. :)
Now back to our litte Lola. I'm surprised how an 11 year old can pull off a ferosh look. Maybe she's Madonna's Little-Miss-Like-A-Virgin in the making that's why she has the license to look absolutely fierce compared to other 11 year old girls who's still figuring out how to work that leggings without even trying so hard.
She has that rockstar-popstar vibe going on! 80's meets grunge kind of thing. Blame it to actor-with-grunge-style dad Carlos Leon and popstar mom Madonna!

Livin La Vida LOLA Leon!
Flick Pick: August Rush
I know this is a one-year-late-recommendation but screw that one year! This movie is a MUST-SEE! I had the OST for quite sometime though I haven't seen the movie. Thanks to my officemate who share the same passion for music, I was intrigued by the OST. I kept playing it over and over again and that's when I decided to buy the DVD.
If you're up for the romance and the music (like me hihi :p) this movie can make it to your top 5 list. I bet! Although the ending is a little unfinished it still is a movie worth your time. The writer probably thought of giving our brains a little exercise. Imagination people! haha.
Plus, the cast is great! Keri Russell (Lyla Novacek)! Do you remember Felicity? I do. I used to watch that when Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and the OC are not yet even conceptualized. Felicity was my Thursday night fix (Channel 9 baby! haha). And Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Louis Connelly), don't you love a guitarist/vocalist with an Irish accent? Who wouldn't fall head over heels for that guy? A rockstar with an Irish accent (I told you I'm into rockstars)! Although not your typical beautiful guy, his ruggedness is to die for. Oh, and the little boy, the child prodigy of music, Freddie Highmore (August Rush)...he's going to be the next Haley Joel Osment! Not only do they look the same but they are both good child actors!
And...the MUSIC! it'll make you go berserk just thinking about it!
Go watch it NOW! Maybe I'm exaggerating...but I'm not. I just looooooooove the movie that much! Ipod playlist updated...it now includes some classical. Mozart goodness! :)
A breath of fresh air in this time where superheroes, violence, sex, aliens and robots sell!

How to Run in High Heels
To be able to sprint from Ayala/Paseo de Roxas to Greenbelt (and back) wearing a 4-inch pumps - braving the sizeable Makati lunch hour crowd- is a gift.
It's a rare talent given to a chosen few(mostly to girls under 4ft, ehem,like myself)..haha

I hate to say this but Kate Middleton...
is this close to becoming a royalty (and a future queen, hmmp).
She recently witnessed her boyfriend Prince William being invested in the Order of the Garter, the world's oldest surviving chivalry, at Windsor Castle.
Her boyfriend was knighted ladies. Lucky girl! You know how hard it is to find a knight these days (chuckles). Do you have a girlfriend dating (dated) a knight? No, right? I thought so.
But not me.
I never wanted to be a boy band groupie. My fantasies involved Kensington Palace, a scepter, and a tiara. So I collected pictures of the future King.
Fast-forward to now, Prince William has clearly chosen a suitable Queen.
I get it. No hard feelings. Especially now, when we have much hotter royalties.
Harry.. Andrea Casigrahi.. Sigh..

Trend: Getting Carrie-d Away
Carrie is not a trend, she is (was) a revolution.
Personally, I think she immortalized an addiction more alarming than football/cocaine/The Hills obsession combined -- SHOE ADDICTION.
Haha.
So pictured left, is her Manolos, retailing at a little under $1000. My pair I got for under $10 (Php 499).
Project: Make Shalom and Amber Proud
In the spirit of detoxifying, I've
just recently started a long overdue project - organizing my shoe closet (er, non-closet)! The picture, left, is just a section of my exponentially growing shoe wardrobe. It's of no Blahnik/Louboutin proportions, so please go easy on me. Hahaha. Anyway, the process of purging is not easy at all. So I delegated this task to my sister!
She's started taking pictures of my shoes. Some of which have been lovingly pasted to their respective boxes.
She's not doing this for free, if you must know. Haha.

Must Have : Snake-y Moves
Magazine Junkie: Harper's Bazaar - Singapore
What's interesting about this Harper's copy, you may ask?
Two things:
1. Giselle Go (Preview Magazine's own fashion ed) is Editor in Chief. She did the other feature story with Marion Cotillard. I'm not sure if she was in the actual interview. Well if she was, wow, envy!
2. If you happen to have seen both HB Singapore and Preview (Manila) I'm sure you've noticed the striking similarities between their pages.
Lay-out. Writing. Fonts! (which is by the way screaming US Vogue's red/white/black combo).
I'm not sure who copied who. Doesn't matter. They probably took inspiration from Vogue (and other big guns) anyway. Plus, who can claim originality these days?
I left my copy in Singapore (left picture, from Ebay haha-- note this Image is my own copy now), but I'll have it back by tomorrow. I'll post pictures of HB's pages, and you be the judge.
(Note: I love HB Singapore. I love magazines in general. And among the local mags here in Manila, I used to like Preview a lot - I think I never missed a copy when I was still in school. Now I think, basing it from their cover star choices, they are definitely heading to another direction. Personally, if I want to see a belly dancing mermaid on the cover, I'd rather buy YES! - that would save me what, Php50?Haha. I'm sure they won't care (or even read this) but anyway, Pax, PREVIEW!)

StereoLove: The Subways
I've always been a fan of indie bands and The Subways is no exception. The moment I heard 'Alright' I immediately fell in love. I love the girl and boy vocals combination! Sounds like The Donnas meets Boys Like Girls! Singing angels to my ears. It's the perfect song for a bad day! Billy Lunn (guitar and vocals) even quoted Penelope Cruz's character in Vanilla Sky to describe this song.
'Every single second is another chance for you to turn it all around.'
And their song Rock and Roll Queen...bliss! haha. Who tells you that...
You are the sun you are the only one
My heart is blue my heart is blue for you
Be my, be my little rock and roll queen
How rockstar can that get? Sorry. Sucker for rockstars here. :p
I'll try to embed the songs here later. I'll update u guys! :) For the meantime, you can check their official website and Myspace account.

Great Singapore Sale: SHOE Edition
Believe it or not, I did not go to Singapore because it's the Great Singapore Sale.
I was there to be with my bestessst friends in the whole world! Hang-out. Raid their fridge. Force them to buy free lunches for myself. Sleep in all day.. You know how a bum's life works.
Honestly, shopping wasn't really a top priority.
But... since I was already there, I felt I might as well embrace the whole Orchard/Vivo/Suntec brouhahaha!!
(Sorry, that's the innate shopaholic in me taking over)
So here's a rundown of the financial damages--- SHOE EDITION!
I bought a few pairs of flats.. One pair is for my sister (white Melissa, she's a nurse). And for myself I got 3 pairs of Topshop flats..Yes. THREE. Haha
Before you crucify me though, you should know that every pair was 60%-70% discounted..
You're drooling... I know..
(Look at that ballet shoes in the middle. Looookaaadat! The most adorable leopard spots.. I'm not myself when I'm wearing it, I'm Audery Hepburn..)
Oh, I got another pair of embellished TOPSHOP flats, for I♥.
Below, are the stuff I got for my colleagues (I choose the goods, they pay!).
Always, always Charles & Keith.
On sale or not, most C&K pairs in Singapore sells at (least) half the price of a Manila C&K pair.
That's worth the money spent on plane tickets.. I think. Haha
Total Damage for these four pairs? Around 128 SGD or $94.00.
I'll try to post the rest of my purchases (clothes) in the coming days.
By the way, if you're planning to visit SNG to shop, I say go around the month of July/August.. By then, most things are further marked down.

Crazy Singapore Weekend
It's been a crazy weekend.. It felt like everyone was in Singapore these last couple of days (Pinoy SNG residents, shoppers, people mostly on business trips- am I the only one who had to pay for my own tix?).
I've only slept for what, 7 hours?, since Friday. Two consecutive days of partying til 4-5 am. Shopping. Two movies in 1 day. Headache's killing me. I'll try to post pics of my few buys tomorrow.
Anyway, we were at The Butter Factory last night. Nice place. That's the only thing I can say, considering I'm no good with anything related to dancing/clubbing/music.
And yes, I was pissed drunk =D
