Flick Pick: 'Signs' @ Schhh (http://schhh.com.hr/)

I remember way back college when M and I used to talk about our school stuff especially the field trips and how other subjects (mine was LITERA) require students to watch plays. I love plays. It gives comfort and nostalgia. Sounds corny...yes...but I still love it. But we always thought that watching plays makes you a cultured lady. Haha. M, I don't know if you still remember. :) But thanks to other social life priorities, the last play I saw was like 3 years ago. That's why I didn't miss this chance of seeing a short film online. I guess it's the closest thing I can get to watching plays. Yes, we're getting more and more tech dependent nowadays. Cheers to the available technology! And oh, thanks to J for sharing this site.

J said that I'll definitely love the short film 'Signs'. There was no note as to what the film was all about. Of course, the excited me quickly typed the address and navigated the site to see the film 'Signs' without reading the summary.

Uhm...what are the reasons that I'd probably love a movie? 1) scary horror flicks 2) gore movies with lots of blood and disgusting things 3) no brainer movies 4) cheesefest icky icky poo romantic movie madness.

All the while I thought I'm in for a gore or horror surprise but I was wrong. Seriously, it was a great movie! Not to cheesy, kinda funny and the characters made strong impacts. And guess what? The music carried the movie! There were minimal spoken words but still you understand what each character is going through.

Got time? Try visiting the site. It's more interactive than you thought.

'Words need not to be spoken for love to be awaken...' :) I can already feel February! Welcome to the LOoooOOve Month! :D

Happy Chinese New Year!

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR! :) 2009 the year of Earth Ox

Have you eaten a tikoy yet?

It is said that the Earth Ox energy will shower many gifts that are essential to keep the vehicle called life going. It will make you more disciplined and entrust you with immense will power to help you reach your goals. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hold our heads up high for a better year!

Want a sneak peak of what's in store for your sign this coming year? Click click for some 2009 Year of the Earth Ox predictions.

Rat

As the Year of the Rat ends and the Year of the Ox kicks off, rodents will be glad to hear that the frantic pace of the last year should slowly start to ease. That said, it’s not quite time to drop out of the rat race and retire to the sewers yet. There is plenty of opportunity for advancement in the coming months, both professionally and personally, for rodents who plan carefully and focus on one goal at a time. 2009 may be a bumpy year for friendships, and, as your life continues to move on, you may leave some of your furry friends behind.

Ox

You may have been disappointed by a relatively modest 2008, but as your sign enters the heaven, the groundwork you laid should start paying off in 2009. Don’t expect fireworks, but success should arrive both in your family life and in business. This is a great year to achieve personal ambitions as well as take action on major decisions. You’ll find both family and friends supportive of new plans.

Tiger

Tigers spent most of 2008 having stripes torn off and out of them, and while 2009 won’t be a walk in the savannah, it will be much better. Lone tigers will be glad to hear their time in the wilderness is over, and the chance for finding a mate is high. Friendships will also fare better than 2008, but you should be wary of people taking advantage of you, especially in business, as you may find yourself being swindled.

Rabbit

If 2008 was a warren of problems for rabbits, 2009 is going to be even less carrot and more stick. Expect bumps in the relationship road, as well as financial strains, while you’ll also find some of your friends hopping away for greener pastures. Some good news comes from your professional life, where, if you’re conscientious and shrewd, you may find yourself climbing the career ladder.

Dragon

Dragons had a fiery 2008, and although the Year of the Ox won’t quite extinguish the flame, things should be quieter for better and worse. Dragons should steer clear of heated disputes in both their home and work life, or they’re likely to slayed by some knight in shining armour. Conversely, a cool head will be rewarded with steady progress. Those looking to share their cave with someone special in 2009 will find love is in the air, and even if the perfect mate can’t be found, you’ll find yourself surrounded by friends.

Snake

Snakes should enjoy a fantastic 2009, and for those with big plans this is the time to put them into action. Snakes can expect to slither up the career ladder, make new friends and, if you’re planning to tie the knot, now is the time to pop the question. All of this success won’t come without effort, but any hard work you put into the year will be richly rewarded.

Horse

Horses will have many fences to jump in the Year of the Ox, but the year should bring much more happiness than 2008. There is success to be had, both in your home life and in business, but you will have to be careful not to gallop off down the wrong track, as the potential for a tumble is also lurking. You should look to old friends and family for advice, and be wary of counsel from those who may not have your best interests at heart.

Goat

Goats did not enjoy a favourable 2008, and, while the Year of the Ox offers a slight improvement, the Goat is still going to have a difficult twelve months in the farmyard. Goats will find themselves butting heads with family and friends, unless they stay cool and approach tricky situations diplomatically. You might be inclined to try and force some success at work or in money, but, again, you should bide your time until your luck starts to change in the final quarter of the year.

Monkey

The lion may be called the King of The Jungle, but in 2009 Monkeys are set to knock Leo from his throne with a blockbuster of a year. Relationships and friendships are set to blossom and your efforts at work will be well rewarded, in fact, with some many opportunities you may feel a little overwhelmed; don’t be, swing into each one while you can. If primates can steer clear of monkey business then this could be one their best years in memory.

Rooster

After a somewhat mixed 2008 in the coop, Roosters can once again look forward to spreading their wings and crowing about their success in the Year of the Ox. Hard work in all areas of your life over the past year will start to pay dividends, and you should make great bounds in your professional life. If you have plans for your finances or a business plan, now is the time to put them into action.

Dog

Canines will need to work like a dog to get the best out of the Year of the Ox, but those that do will find themselves with more than a bone to show for their efforts. Hard work will win rewards at work, and is the best place to focus your efforts. Relationships may be less rewarding, and while you may find yourself out in the dog house, you should find plenty of friends to share your kennel with.

Pig

The Year of the Ox can be a good one for the Pig, but ambitious swines need to climb out of the pigsty and put their energy into what is most important to them, if they are to gain success. There will also be challenges to come, particularly in your personal life, and you should avoid spreading yourself to thin. Make the bacon by focusing on one goal at a time.

Cubao Expo: a hidden vintage shopping spot

Remember my Haji Lane post a couple of days ago? Well well well...it aint only in Sing baby! I got the same feeling when I went to our very own Cubao Expo! The Viva La Vintage vibe is all over the place and I was even able to take a snapshot of this store called K.A.R.M.A.! Too bad it's not open. Actually, most of the stores are closed and there are notes on the doors saying 'Store opens upon request.' Very Haji Lane-ish!

Clickie clickie for more..

But still, can you see that very fasyon red circular luggage, the vintage purse and the intricately made furnitures? I can totally sing 'My love is like whoa!' I'm in love with the place!

Aside from the vintage vibe...you can also see the cabaret-ish look. Thanks to Mogwai (see photo below), which is a restaurant/bar/screening room. For more info on Mogwai, click this. Haji Lane didn't have this one. So heads up Noypis! :p

I've been in Pinas all 24 years of my life and I just saw this place last December. It's never too late to walk the streets of Metro Manila and find something really unique. Btw, Cubao Expo is the old Marikina Shoe Expo. :) It's located behind the Gateway Mall.

Must-Click: www.chictopia.com

I've been meaning to post about this site for quite some time now. I discovered this site last year out of boredom. It reminded me of Stylehive (M♥ has a SH account) and Lookbook.nu. It's not until last night that I decided to make a post about it. My friend V has an account and she was telling me all about it. Uhm....why didn't I sign up? I myself is not sure though given that it's my favorite past time to check out fab outfits from girls all over the world from this site. And so...I signed up last night. :p But I'm too lazy to take a photo of my outfits. Haha. Maybe next time.

The great thing about this site is that you can actually showcase your outfits and label it with the corresponding brand. Plus, anyone can browse over your page, rate your outfit and leave a comment. :) Isn't it fantastic? Anyone from any part of the world does have a say on your outfit. Cool heaps! Oh, you can also link your Chictopia page to your Facebook so your friends can see what have you been wearing these days.

Got the image from V's page. (Hi V! :) hope u dont mind :D) That orange skirt is really fab! I like!

So if you're bored or just wanting to check out fashionable people click on www.chictopia.com and you'll be in for a surprise. Happy surfing! :)

First Day High for President Barack Obama!

The inauguration is over and it's time for the 44th President of the United States to rock! First day high for President Barack Obama!

I am currently watching CNN and reports say that the Wall Street is off to a good start which I believe is a good sign. He is the first African-American president to lead the United States of America and the expectations are too high. Many people believe in him. I just hope that he can live up to the expectations.

Congratulations to the President! A person who can affect change is always someone to watch out for. I pray that he affects change as much as we hope he can.

Now here's a video from Will.I.Am entitled It's A New Day. It features Obama's journey to the election and his supporters. Enjoy! :)

Honda City 2009

What do you think?

I haven't seen this baby personally but it has been getting a lot of buzz. And I'm not really a big fan of the Honda City, I'm more of a Honda Civic kind of girl. But I might check this out one of these days with my car fanatico father. I might even give an honest opinion although I'm in no position to give car reviews because I can't even distinguish the difference between the older and newer models. Who cares if the headlight was changed? Or the bumper was extended? Or a spoiler was added? A lot of people do...but I kinda don't. Sorry. As long as it looks nice and it runs fast with no problemo, you got me in! :p

But I guess this is worth checking out. I've seen the site and it looks promising. It also says that this car is eco friendly (why not?):

"The new City utilizes aero-flow, LAF (linear air-fuel), and O2 sensors to monitor and control the air-fuel ratio. This reduces hazardous elements from exhaust gas while using less precious metal in the catalyst. Honda also minimizes use of lead, hexavalent chromium, and PVC, and maximizes recyclable materials."

You guys can check it out for yourselves.

http://www.citychangetherules.com/

UPDATE: Saw it on SM....and boy was it pretty! I like! I'm in luuuuuuurve! I'm a convert now. No longer a Civic girl!

Enjoy car shopping! Let's go green! :D

Must Love Bootahs!

The cold weather is insane these days! But how can you complain when it promotes cell renewal for a healthy skin glow? In short, longer hours of sleep! It's the best weather ever! Welcoming Oh-Nine with a cold breeze...sweet!

Must love bootahs for this sweet weather! And so I present my latest purchases...well the first one at least. My lovely boyfriend gave the other one as his post xmas gift/pasalubong from his Singapore trip.

(L - Boots I got from a store in Haji Lane; R - Charles and Keith ankle boots from boyfriend)

Love the heels which kinda reminds me of M♥'s post on surrealist pumps last March 2008.

I love the garter-like details at the back and it looks oxford-y at the same time. This style also came out in bronze but I chose this color because I don't have a nice white pair of shoes with somewhat pointy heels yet.

Brr..

One of Singapore's shopping haven..HAJI LANE!

Ola chikkas! Sorry for going MIA the past couple of months. Life's been a roller coaster. Oh well, HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone and to you M♥! Thanks for always keeping this site alive. Haha.

As for my first post this year, I want to give you guys a glimpse of one of Singapore's shopping haven. I literally went mad for all those one of a kind pieces mostly vintage and edgy stuff. It's not your ordinary shopping place. It's a street with different stores left and right! How can you not go giddy over it?

It's exciting! Each store has a different feel whatever suits you. It's a combination of art and fashion. Artsy fartsy meets the fashionista...that kind of feeling. Indie..definitely not mainstream! Haha.

Like this one. Our first stop. Sorry I don't remember the names of the stores. My apologies. :)
Look closely, there's a bath tub converted into an aquarium beside the clothes rack. Nice concept. :) I was able to buy a jumpsuit in this store. From 89SGD, I got it for only 10SGD. Great buy! I loove!

Going up on this store, you'll see their very cute and vintage inspired dressing rooms. Red and purple! I especially love the details of the doors.

I've also seen this store selling clothes and plates...and other stuff. Don't you love the wallpaper?

And what's not to love with this black/white inspired store?

And those suitcases...plus The Beatles bag...nice!

Haji lane is a must-visit for all you shopaholics visiting Singapore. It's located near the Raffles Hospital at the Bugis MRT station.
